Reflection of the Week

Future leaders of our Time,

It is with joy but same time sadness that I write this peace on the crisis situation in the Horn of Africa, Somalia.

This is not the first time Somalia is facing such a natural disaster but I think such a disaster could be prevented. ‎Right now in Somalia, more than 600,000 kids are at risk of starvation. It is very brutal to see a child starving to death. These are things that make us think we are lucky to be alive today.

Every year 22 million children die of preventable diseases which could be preventable. This is unbearable because this is a generation that is being wiped out especially with the crisis in Somalia.

I think we need to step up our efforts to help raise awareness on these happenings so that people could come to the aid of these children. The World Food Program will be running out of food supplies in the next one week, and this will mean these children will have no other option but to succumb to this deadly disaster.

Let’s imagine the number of times we throw food out, let's imagine the number of times we buy stuff we really don’t need and let's imagine how helpful $1 can change the life of a child in need by providing him/her with a nutritive diet.

Let's not forget to keep counting our blessings and naming them one by one but let’s remember that there are others who by no means have to suffer while we are in our comfort zones because it is the smile you bring in a child’s face that makes life worth living

Remember that we as youths owe a lot to our nation and though challenging we have to stay with those in need and keep them smiling all the time. "Ask not what your country has done for you but what you have done for your country" is what John F Kennedy said.

Waleed from Egypt states:

"There is no doubt that TakingITGlobal is the most important online place. Only TIG can help young leaders all over the world to exchange our iIdeas and think together about achieving the best. With TIG there is no borders between us - only what we need is to be online to make new friendships between each other and respect one another. I have a dream that I would like to live to see the day that all youth leaders in all over the world from TIG will be the real leaders in their countries. Then we will have all what we need to reach our goals, not only for youth, but for our world and our next generations."
