PROJECT ON ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND
HIV AND AIDS EDUCATION IN MUYUKA
BACKGROUND
Muyuka town is located some 31kms from Buea, the administrative headquarter of the South West Region. It has about 5 secondary schools. The students of these schools and those who come back home for holidays have no place for leisure or occupy themselves during this period. Most of these students engage in drugs, crime and prostitution. The aim of the seminar is therefore to impact skills that these youths can use in raising funds for their education while keeping themselves busy during the holidays. The project will also teach youths about HIV and AIDS and promote peer education.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this project are:

To educate youths on HIV and AIDS

Impact skills and knowledge on HIV and AIDS prevention in youths

To occupy youths during this period of idleness and temptation
-
Develop a peer education network amongst youth
-
Impact life saving skills(poultry care) so that they can fight unemployment which is plaguing the youths
-
Fight hunger
-
Educate and reduce youth participation in crimes, drugs, prostitution etc
ACTIVITIES
A four day training seminar will be organized in the month of June and July or August pending availability of resources.
Three days of the workshop will be dedicated to poultry farming and one other day dedicated to HIV and AIDS education.
The poultry farming workshop will revolve around the following topics

Poultry keeping i.e housing, equipments

Poultry hospital aids (feeding, vaccination, sanitation)

Common pest and diseases
-
Local Feed production
-
Marketing etc
The HIV and AIDS education will revolve around the following
-
Basics about HIV and AIDS
-
Causes and effects of HIV and AIDS
-
Transmission and Prevention of HIV and AIDS
-
Talks on AIDS fee society
TIMEFRAME
The project will last a period of one month two weeks. I month will be dedicated to registration and 1 other week dedicated to final planning and the last week dedicated to the project.
