Bio
Ibrahim Daramy is one of 25 children born into a polygamous family in Sierra Leon. His father, a wealthy diamond miner, basically lost everything for his family during the inception of the war and sadly disappeared and was assumed dead while looking for food for the family.
Shortly after the RUF rebel attack, Ibrahim and his siblings escaped to Gambia and were led to a refugee camp that today fills him with unpleasant memories of deprivation, hunger, humiliation and displacement. “I still have bleeding marks of the war and the camp deep in my heart…The younger brother I lost in the camp, my deprived education and my lost childhood make my effort to succeed in this world a continuous desire in my heart.”
In 2001, Ibrahim and his surviving siblings arrived in the United States with The United Nation Refugee Resettlement Program and then reunited with his mother in Philadelphia. “It was then that we learned that my father was not killed back home. It still haunts me to know that he was captured by the rebels and held prisoner in the forest for all of those years.”
The struggles in Ibrahim’s life finally became challenged when he began to empower himself to a bigger and better place through physical fitness. A strong body and even stronger outlook on life helped Ibrahim overcome the many obstacles he faced in order to have a life of freedom today.
Ibrahim, a Team Sci-Fit Athlete, hopes that by joining forces with the nutrition and supplement giant, his story can now be heard by more people. “This incredible partnership with Sci-Fit allows me to teach others that obstacles can be overcome by all and a promising future is a possibility for those who never thought things could get better. My only strength is my desire and determination to change the history of my story”, he explains.
Stats
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 160 lbs
Body Fat: 8-9% body fat year round
Training Philosophy
I believe in working out intensively with weights 5 days a week. My off days consist of cardiovascular training with the hopes of adding kickboxing and soccer as time permits.
Motivation
The adversity that I had to overcome in my life as a refugee seeking a better life keeps me motivated to stay physically fit and focused. It keeps me feeling strong and positive.
Inspiration
My inspiration comes from example. Clark Bartram is definitely my role model, inspiration, and a person that I admire. He has taught me that it's not just about how great my physical image looks, but what that image can do for positively for others.
Future Goals and Ambitions
To be a role model and inspiration for others and hopefully start a non-for-profit organization to promote fitness for kids all over the world, as well build health clubs in my native home of Sierra Leone. I look forward to getting in the bodybuilding competition circuit and would love to appear in movies.
